Hi ,this is my first post to this blog ,so getting straight to work !
Problem: Some HP laptops even if they are new are not able to enter recovery from F11 key as pressing it renders following error
File: \Boot\BCD
0xc0000225
so the owner is left with only option of getting to recovery by using recovery media
Cause: Due to limitations of OS and hard disk, our systems supports only 4 partitions if you want the the disk to remain Basic otherwise on 5 partition the disc turns to Dynamic one (Difference between Basic and Dynamic disk) so thsi causes the recovery partition link to break as the hp systems has following partitions from factory
- System(No drive letter attached)
- HP_TOOLS( No drive letter attached)
- The WINDOWS drive (mostly C:, at-least in my case )
- The RECOVERY drive
Now as i am here to solve the problems so here is the solution
Solution : Convert the disk back to basic,sounds easy na ! Well its not,depending on your need if your having your data backup the go for a system recovery or we have another way out(actually 2 ways out)

as windows itself convert the system back to basic on partition deletion but to save you from losing all your data we are gonna use a software EaseUS Partition Master and choose the edition according to your need .
Now that we have all the weapons needed,so lets begin the mission !
1. Without deleting HP_tools partition
- For that first delete any of the partition u made out of the main windows partition
- Next extend or join it with C so in the end you have only 4 partitions max.
- Now run the software and and select the disk and click convert to Basic
- Wait for few minutes then click apply and it will ask to restart ,press yes and it will restart 2 times so ensure power supply during the operation
- After that when windows start normally again use the EaseUS software and click the Disk drive and click the option change to primary,click apply and wait for operation to complete if C and system already primary the select only D drive(our main objective is to make C ,D and system a primary partition),then reboot
- After that open CMD from search and browse to boot sect directory for HP laptops its "C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\Recovery Manager\Tools\x86\BootSect.exe"
so type "cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\Recovery Manager\Tools\x86\"
then "bootsect /nt60 All" - Reboot and now check your F11 option,now if everything went right then voilla windows recovery windows start(don't worry it can be cancelled)
- Rest all steps are same except you can keep one more partition except C for personal use
Automatically hp_tools will get disabled or you can before hand merge it with your other partitions
Thats all ,now you can say its easy !
